Winter Streets in Germany
Complaining about long drives, traffic and construction! Which of course leads into Carbon, Carbon offsets and of course how we can manage our lives (in simple ways) to start to make a difference and help solve the problems!

09:42 Rui: oh!
09:42 Rui: Cool. I just have 35.000km ina year
09:43 Rui: Stop complaining! Take a heli
09:44 Rui: Going for lunch now. Have fun. I’ll listen to it later.
09:46 ccmehil: Enjoy lunch! I wish on the Chopper!
09:51 monkchips: that was quick.
09:53 ccmehil: what was quick?
09:54 ccmehil: I’m still live (audio portion today)
09:55 monkchips: ah i see. it looked like you turned off
09:57 ccmehil: nope still here
09:57 monkchips: :-)
09:58 monkchips: with my air mileage footprint? i *suck*
10:00 monkchips: i could live in a mudhut and only eat vegetables i grew myself and i would still be evil
10:00 monkchips: the segway, btw, was a loan. i had it for one fun summer.
10:04 monkchips: we have to use less carbon
10:04 monkchips: can’t offset our way out of it
10:06 monkchips: life might even be better after the shit hits the fan
10:08 monkchips: it helps
10:10 ccmehil: CRAP
10:10 ccmehil: ok maybe I need the premium service 30 min limit
10:10 monkchips: good simple dumbshit stuff… like don’t eat meat on mondays
10:14 monkchips: it ******* dropped hte connection, and now seems to be playing a recording. or is this jazz tune live?
10:14 ccmehil: part 2 started
10:14 ccmehil: reefresh
10:16 monkchips: not much you can do, dude. other than live closer to them
10:17 monkchips: you can’t use less gas
10:19 ccmehil: That’s a wrap on the show but the search begins! Thanks for tuning in!
10:20 ccmehil: very true on not using less gas
10:20 ccmehil: but there has got to be more ways to help repair the damage (or are we that far gone that we can’T repair it anymore?)
10:24 monkchips: i am increasingly less worried about warming, and more about all the other damage vectors
10:25 monkchips: i have never owned a car
10:25 ccmehil: such as?
10:25 monkchips: i have only driven in 2 countries
10:25 monkchips: such as – groundwater pollution
10:26 ccmehil: that is one of the scarier ones – no drinkable water?
10:27 monkchips: yup – add decreasing rainfall and….
10:27 monkchips: or topsoil erosion. that’s another good one
10:28 monkchips: plastics making their way into food chains
10:28 monkchips: industrial use of antibiotics in agriculture
10:29 ccmehil: I saw a docu awhile back about how Germany (maybe EU) ships kilotons of plastic bottles to China every year who then turn them into clothes and sell it back to us
10:29 monkchips: yeah – well at least that’s recycled
10:32 ccmehil: yeah but it’s giant container ships doing the shipping back and forth – I’d think it’d be cheaper to build a factory local to do the same thing and save half the money
10:32 ccmehil: apparently we pay them to tkae the bottles and then buy the recycled product
10:33 monkchips: ah yes
10:34 monkchips: quite- good example of what i was saying
10:34 monkchips: you can argue shipping has a lower carbon footprint. and it does
10:34 monkchips: *BUT* the diesel fuel they is horrifically polluting
10:34 ccmehil: I’d have to find the docu but it seemed they were sending the ships A LOT
10:34 monkchips: carbon footprint is too blunt a measure
10:35 ccmehil: so what’s the better option to be more precise?
10:36 monkchips: dealing with complexity….
10:36 monkchips: but i think the phrase is good luck with that
10:36 ccmehil: probably so
